A cost-effective resolution for the majority of our clients seeking Council Tax advice

A significant majority of individuals who approach Council Tax Advisors are dealing with outstanding arrears that have been transferred to a Bailiff Enforcement Agent for collection. The prevailing concern voiced by clients is that the repayment demands imposed by these agents are impractical and unmanageable.

To address this issue, one of our agents offers a service that involves mediating on your behalf to negotiate a repayment plan that is both affordable and sustainable. This can be achieved through direct communication with the Enforcement Agent or by liaising with your Local Authority. Our primary objective is to arrange repayment plans that allow for the prompt clearance of the debt while remaining within your means.

The entire process, from initiation to completion, is designed to be straightforward and uncomplicated.

To seek assistance, you have the option to submit an application, and our agents will promptly get in touch with you. Subsequently, they will carry out a Financial Health Check in collaboration with you, ensuring that appropriate solutions tailored to your specific situation are presented.

Ultimately, the decision on which solution to pursue is entirely up to you, granting you full autonomy in choosing the course of action that best suits your needs and preferences.

After reaching a mutual understanding regarding the most suitable resolution for your current circumstances, typically an ‘Affordable Repayment Plan’ (ARP) in approximately 90% of cases we handle, we will proceed to provide you with the necessary documentation. This paperwork must be filled out and returned to us, granting us the legal authority to act on your behalf.

Once your case is transferred to our dedicated case handling team, they will establish communication with your Local Council and their appointed Bailiff Enforcement agent. The purpose of this liaison is to discuss your specific situation and reach a mutual agreement on a repayment plan that satisfies all parties involved.

Once a resolution has been reached, we will promptly reach out to you to provide the necessary update. Additionally, throughout the entire process, you will receive regular notifications and updates via email and text messages to ensure that you remain well-informed.

Local Council / Bailiff Enforcement Agent Repayment Plans

Once a repayment plan has been agreed upon, you will receive instructions on making payments directly to either your Council or the Bailiff Enforcement Agency. However, if we have arranged an affordable repayment plan with the Enforcement Agency, as long as you consistently make your repayments, you will not receive any further visits from the Enforcement Agent.

In the event that you anticipate difficulties in making a payment within the repayment plan duration, it is crucial that you promptly contact us. It is important to provide an explanation for the inability to make the payment, enabling us to renegotiate with your Council or the Bailiff Enforcement Agency before any agreement is breached. This proactive communication allows us to address the situation and find suitable alternative

Our repayment plans work!

We take great pride in our ability to establish repayment plans that effectively address our clients’ needs. As a testament to our success, over 70% of the repayment plans we arrange enable clients to fully repay their debts in an affordable manner. The remaining 30% consists of cases where clients either opt not to seek further assistance from us or express unwillingness to fulfill their financial obligations.

Regardless of the reasons behind your arrears with Council Tax, our primary objective is to assist you in establishing repayment plans that alleviate your financial burden. By acting on your behalf, we aim to provide you with the necessary support to move forward in life without the apprehension of unexpected visits from Bailiff Enforcement Agents. Our goal is to create a pathway for you to regain stability and peace of mind.

What if the Repayment Plan is Unaffordable?

In certain circumstances, when facing substantial debt issues that extend beyond Council Tax arrears, a repayment plan with your local authority or their appointed Bailiffs may not fully resolve the problem. In such cases, where Council Tax arrears are just one aspect of a larger financial burden, there is no need to panic.

Rest assured, we have established partnerships with debt solution experts who specialize in providing comprehensive guidance. They can offer advice on holistic debt solutions, including options such as Debt Relief Orders (DROs), Individual Voluntary Agreements (IVAs), and, in more severe cases, Bankruptcy. By completing our Application, we will be able to assess your situation and provide you with our recommended course of action.
